🔒 Child Safety & Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 15, 2026 • Applicable to Class 1 Star Explorer: NCERT & CBSE Learning (com.starkids.class1learning) published on Indus Appstore.

1. Plain-English Summary for Parents

🛡️ Our Privacy Commitment to You: Class 1 Star Explorer does NOT collect, track, share, or sell any personal information from your child. The app functions 100% offline, contains zero third-party advertising, and has no hidden analytics trackers. All your child's badges and stars stay strictly on your phone.

This Privacy Policy describes our practices regarding the mobile application Class 1 Star Explorer: NCERT & CBSE Learning (operated by Star Kids Learning Lab, "we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to maintaining the highest privacy safeguards for young learners in primary education (Ages 5 to 7).

2. No Personal Data Collected

We do not collect any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from children or parents:

  • No Names or Emails: We do not ask for or collect real names, parent email addresses, or phone numbers.
  • No Audio or Camera Data: The application does not record or access the device microphone or camera.
  • No Location Data: The app does not request or track GPS coordinates, cellular tower triangulation, or IP geolocation.
  • No Advertising Identifiers: We do not read Google Advertising ID (GAID/AAID) or device hardware serial numbers.

3. Offline Storage Architecture

When a child earns golden stars, unlocks trophy badges, completes Hindi Rimjhim or Maths Magic chapters, or draws on the Doodle Pad, this information is stored strictly locally on the device using Android's sandboxed SharedPreferences and private app storage.

None of this progress data is ever transmitted over the internet or synchronized with remote cloud servers. Uninstalling the app or clearing application cache instantly and permanently purges all locally stored progress.

4. Zero Third-Party Advertising Policy

We believe early primary education must be pure, joyful, and completely free from commercial exploitation.

  • There are no pop-up advertisements, banner ads, interstitial ads, or rewarded video ads.
  • Children are never exposed to external marketing links, in-app purchases, or consumer profiling.
  • The app experience is 100% focused on foundational literacy, mathematics, and bilingual learning.

5. Protected Parental Gate

To prevent young primary students from navigating away from the curriculum studios or altering critical settings, our application employs a secure Parental Gate.

Accessing the Parent Dashboard, Screen Time Controls, or External Developer details requires solving a randomly generated adult arithmetic challenge (e.g., "What is 8 × 9?"). This ensures that only parents, guardians, or educators can access administrative settings.

6. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Compliance

Our application complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.
  • We do not condition a child's participation in games or educational activities on disclosing personal information.
  • No behavioral tracking or retargeting technologies are integrated into the application.

7. India Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023

In accordance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021:

  • We do not undertake any tracking or behavioral monitoring of children or directed advertising targeting children.
  • No processing of personal data that could cause detrimental effect on the well-being of a child is conducted.
  • Parental consent mechanisms are fully respected by eliminating data transmission altogether.

8. Android Permissions Breakdown

Our application is engineered to operate with minimal Android operating system privileges:

  • INTERNET: Used solely for playing embedded NCERT educational audio pronunciations and opening optional reference materials with parental consent. No user or device data is transmitted.
  • CAMERA / MICROPHONE: Not requested or accessed.
  • READ_CONTACTS / READ_PHONE_STATE: Not requested or accessed.
  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / COARSE_LOCATION: Not requested or accessed.
  • STORAGE / PHOTOS / FILES: Not requested or accessed (all drawings remain inside the private app sandbox).
